While Google often waits much ahead of spring to officially show off new updates and features, some leaked screenshots may have given us an early glimpse of the changes. Coming to Android 12.

Leaked screenshots released by XDA Developers Said to be part of an early draft sent to developers to document and help explain incoming changes The next version of Android. Usually these sketches include preview source code and screenshots showing the new features, and while XDA can’t verify their authenticity, many of these new features seem to match early expectations for Android 12.

But more importantly, if you look at the top right corner, it appears that Google has added new privacy indicators designed to more clearly emphasize that an app is using your phone’s microphone or camera. Additionally, by tapping the indicator icon, users will be able to see every single app currently using your phone’s hardware so there is no confusion as to which software is compromising your privacy. Apple has added similar indicators in iOS 14.

Digital privacy is planned to be the main focus on Android 12, and in addition to these new privacy indicators, the leaked screenshots show that Google has overhauled the Android Privacy settings menu to include toggles that make it even easier to completely disable individual hardware components like you. the phone’s microphone, cameras, GPS and other sensors.

And fGoogle’s new to Android 12, allowing Apple to introduce widgets in iOS 14 It’s easier to keep tabs on topics like text messages, calls, and more via a simple box on your home screen. IIt is possible that the Chat widget will become a mandatory feature in Android 12 as it will help connect to Google’s Contacts Shortcuts, which should make it quicker and easier to share content with others.

At this point, Android is a very mature operating system, so although you shouldn’t expect a major overhaul, it’s nice to see Google focus on things like privacy and sharing that have become increasingly important issues over the past few years.

Typically, Google I / O is the major public launch for the next major Android beta. Google canceled last year’s event due to the epidemic, so remains unclear what the company is later in the store this spring.
